It is a 6-piece play set that includes a broom, a mop, a duster, a brush, a dustpan and a storage stand.

Melissa & Doug Dust! Sweep! Mop! set

We have a lot of Melissa & Doug products. I think we could all agree that you can expect excellent quality with this particular brand. Most of their products are wooden, very sturdy, and made to last.

This pretend play set is geared for ages 3+,  but I’m sure depends on your child’s skills, someone as young as one or one and a half year old can play with this, provided of course with adult supervision. Adult supervision is always a must!!!

The Melissa & Doug Let’s Play House! Dust! Sweep! Mop! broom is solid wood with green bristles, about 26″ long. It has a green cord at the end to hang it to the storage stand. It has 3 rows of green bristles, 13 per row. The bristles are 2.25″ long and are soft and firm.

The mop is solid wood with a blue wooden dome and white strands. It is about 26″ long from the very tip of the wooden handle to the end of the strands. I inspected it, and I am amazed at its superb construction.

There looks like a total of 38 white cords stitched to a felt paper that is secured with a plexiglass screwed to the wooden dome. Stitching was very even, and there are no sharp edges on the plexiglass. It has a blue cord at the tip for hanging.

The Melissa & Doug Let’s Play House! Dust! Sweep! Mop! dustpan is red with a red cord for hanging, and I must say it is made of better material than my actual dustpan. This looks like it won’t break even if dropped repeatedly. The dustpan is about 8.5″ long and 6.25″ wide.

There is a brush with wooden handle and 3 rows of red bristles, 11 knots per row, with matching red cord for hanging. The brush is about 9″ long, and 1.375″ thick, with the bristles being 1.625″ long. The cut of the bristles is a little uneven, but even so, the bristles are very soft yet firm. They are the same bristles as the broom, just differing in the color.

The duster has bright yellow orange fibers that are reinforced to prevent falling out, and are extra fluffy. It looks like the fibers are stitched to themselves and then glued to the wooden handle. It’s very soft and very thick.

The Melissa & Doug Let’s Play House! Dust! Sweep! Mop! storage stand is wooden with red accents. It has the Melissa & Doug name on top. It is a very simple stand, all made of wood, except for the red plastic connecting the trunk to the base.

The bottom of the base also has the Melissa & Doug product label. I should add that the base is very sturdy and balanced.

All the products are very smooth, I did not feel any rough parts, nor did I get a splinter.

My child liked it as soon as he saw it. He likes the broom the most. He already has the Little Helper Broom Set so he knows how to use it. The mop intrigued him as something new because I use a pink Swiffer Sweeper, and he uses a green Swiffer Sweeper with the handle shortened. He also likes the bright yellow orange duster, and is being silly with the brush, pretending to use it on his teeth.

Over all, the Melissa & Doug Let’s Play House! Dust! Sweep! Mop! is a great pretend play set for kids, especially those who like to help mommy or daddy clean the house. It offers great basic colors, a clean look, easy to clean up and store after playing, and can actually be used for real cleaning if need be. It is definitely worth the price because of solid construction and materials. I have read some negative reviews online and I fortunately did not have any issues with the quality of this set. It is made in China. What do you think? Would you buy this product? Please leave a comment below.
