This is a review of Peppa Pig’s Fancy Dress Party. It is a 12 piece figure playset of Peppa Pig, her brother George, and 10 of their fellow anthropomorphic friends. Peppa Pig, if you still don’t know, is a cartoon show about a cheeky little piglet of the same name. I love the style of the show. It has simple yet immensely colorful graphics. There are now so many Peppa Pig toys, books and other merchandise in the market. Last Sunday was Target Run Day and I was fortunate to grab the last box of Peppa Pig’s Fancy Dress Party at the store. I got it for 10% less, which basically covered taxes. So the above photo is how it looks in its box. The box is very well made, definitely sturdy. It measures 9 inches high, 14 inches long and 2 inches wide. Like the cartoon, it is very colorful and eye-catching. It has an “Only at (Target Logo)” sign at its upper left side.
Here is how the back of the box looks like. It shows Peppa’s house on top of the hill, and on the bottom, Peppa and some of her friends are in their fancy dress outfits, happily playing. Some other toys to collect and play with are shown: the Campervan Playset, the House Playset, and Peppa Pig’s Red Car, all of which I am also considering buying in the future.
This is how it looks out of the box. Without the glare, we can see all of their outfits much better. From top left to right: Zoe Zebra, Candy Cat, Peppa Pig, George, Pedro Pony, and Suzy Sheep. Bottom left to right: Danny Dog, Wendy Wolf, Robert Rabbit, Rebecca Rabbit, Freddy Fox and Emily Elephant.
This is the accompanying backdrop, drawn to look like a two-story ballroom decked out with balloons and multicolored pennant strings. It looks like the ballroom from Peppa’s castle in the “Princess Peppa” episode.
Now, let’s look take a closer look at the figures two at a time. Peppa Pig wears a red dress with a white tutu skirt and white shoes. She wears this outfit in the “Ballet Lesson” episode. George is wearing a blue and white striped pirate outfit and a black eyepatch. He is wearing a black belt with a gold buckle, and has black shoes. Danny Dog wears this outfit in the “Pumpkin Party” episode.
Zoe Zebra is dressed in a pink floral kimono with a yellow and green obi. She wears black shoes. Zoe wears this outfit in the “International Day” episode. It looks like Candy Cat is wearing a dress inspired by her witch costume from the “Pumpkin Party” special. It is black with a silver moon and stars, and a purple belt with a silver buckle. Please correct me if Candy Cat has actually appeared in this outfit in an episode. It would be nice if they added hats for the characters, but in the special, the moon and stars are in Candy Cat’s witch’s hat. Candy wears black boots.
Freddy fox is wearing a royal outfit that Danny Dog wears in the “Princess Peppa” episode. In the episode, Danny Dog has a hat. Anyway, Freddy’s outfit is purple with a white collar. He has a black belt with a gold buckle, and black shoes.
Emily Elephant wears a safari dress. It has a white and green patch on the left chest. She has a brown belt with a gold buckle, and brown shoes. At the back of the box, Emily is drawn wearing a hat to complete the outfit.
Danny Dog is dressed as a cowboy. He has a brown vest, red scarf and a star badge. He has a brown belt with a silver buckle. Wendy Wolf is wearing a Native American buckskin dress. They are both wearing black shoes.
Robert Rabbit is wearing a pirate outfit he wore at “Danny’s Pirate Party.” He has an orange bandana with white polka dots, and a black belt with a gold buckle. Rebecca Rabbit is wearing an aquamarine dress with a lei. They are both wearing black shoes.
For the last two, Pedro Pony is wearing a clown outfit while Suzy Sheep is a nurse. Pedro Pony has glasses in addition to his clown face. He has a cyan and sky blue outfit with two green buttons in the front. He has red shoes with garnet red tips. Suzy has an all white dress with a green cross in the front. They wear these outfits in the “Pumpkin Party” episode. Suzy Sheep also appears in other episodes wearing this outfit as she loves to dress up as a nurse.
For $29.99 at Target, this playset is a great deal. It would make a great gift for a child, either boy or girl. Parents would appreciate it, too. It would have been nicer if the outfits came with the hats the characters wear in the episodes, but the figures are colorful enough and well made, that it’s not really an issue. Of course if they were to come with hats, the hats should be part of the mold of the head, and not be removable so as not to pose a choking hazard for kids as this playset is rated for age 2+. As with other Peppa Pig figures, these are great quality toys. They look just like in the series. The colors are a great match, the painting meticulous. I did notice a small spot on Freddy Fox’s left eye, but other than that, as you can see in the pictures, everything is amazing!
What about you? Do you like Peppa Pig, too? Would you buy this playset? I would love to hear from you. Please share your thoughts and leave a comment below.
